Irons working hard to bring Jenks back

|

SWest Ham chairman David Gold has confirmed West Ham are “working hard” to bring Carl Jenkinson back to the Boleyn Ground. The Arsenal and England Under-21 right-back enjoyed a successful spell on loan last season and the West Ham board is keen to agree another season long loan.

Gold was asked by the Alan Brazil breakfast “Can West Ham fans get excited dare I mention about a Charlie Austin or someone coming in?”

“Yes I think we are ever optimistic, we recognise this is an important season for us and being in Europe we will go the extra mile to ensure we have the strongest possible squad that we can muster.”

“We are very working hard to try and get Carl back here,” said Gold, speaking on Talksport radio.

Buy him or buy someone else and try Oxford at right back,
Make Arsenal an offer they will take and keep them talking while you look at other options like the lad from Peru or Leeds
Then if you get one of them give Wenger the middle finger

Bubs I am finally winning you over ha ha – I would not buy him at all, just buy someone else and try Oxford at right back. He is so over rated – it is just gone beyond a joke at this stage.

  • bubs says:

It’s not that I don’t like him John it’s the whole paying to give another clubs players experience
You can buy a good player out there at right back for £4 million, just look at our left back situation

    • johnham1 says:

I totally agree with you but in addition he has many faults – slow to react to danger, does not get his head up at times…I think people think because he has exceptional pace we must buy him. I actually believe there is better value out there. I can’t believe that the David’s are seriously considering paying any money for him. When we play the better teams he will be caught out.

  • bubs says:

Matte there must be some good left backs in Italy for that money,
Suerez a Left back with Elche in La Liga is free and he is a great full back,28 year old Uraguyan international,

Honestly Italian football is going through a difficult time bubs, lack of talents. I could say Abate (28), De Sciglio, I like Cáceres (he’s not Italian, he plays for Juve), Darmian (25)… and I’ve heard good things about Sime Vrsaljko, he plays for Sassuolo, he’s 23. But I’m not an expert and I don’t know their price. 😉

I had to do a double take when reading johnhams comment. Why in the love of god would you take a 16yr old kid who is a centre back or a possible holding midfielder later down the line & stick him at right back. Not only is it not useful to our club to do it it is totally wrong for the lad.It is one of the craziest suggestions ever.Just sayin’

    • johnham1 says:

Iron Man fair point on Oxford, you are right on that – my dislike to Jenks as a player and the good weather has affected my judgement there.

      • Iron Man says:

Dont worry John,i was only being lighthearted about the ‘craziest suggestion’ part of my comment, lol

  • Lt. Quickdrawovic 1st Slavalry C&H Regt says:

As Matte would say about an AC story,no comment

  • bubs says:

Iron Man he plays at right back as well, and at his age Johnson was considered the next Rio and a CH but he never grew tall enough and Chelski brought him to play at right back,
Why play him in Midfield ?
Why play O,Brien at all have we not got a right back in the academy ?
    We NEED A RIGHT BACK

  • Iron Man says:

Yes but not Oxford,he is not a fullback, never will be a fullback. He is a really talented lad in central defence who could make an excellant holding midfielder or midfielder in time. You want to stick him at fullback then fine but you will be totally wasting his talent. We will get a right back, just two days into the transfer window.Prem doesnt even start for about six weeks.Whats the panic.God knows why you are comparing Johnson with Oxford.Oxford is already 6ft+ at 16 & still growing.
