French newspaper L’Equipe today claims that Issa Diop’s move to West Ham should be completed in the next few days. The report claims West Ham and Toulouse have reached a €25m (£22m) agreement for the player and adds that Diop will travel to London early next week and sign a five-year deal with the Hammers.
However, like many stories reported this time of year, Claret and Hugh understand that the report is said to be premature at this stage and the deal is not as close as foreign journalists would like us to believe. Claims that the deal should be completed in the next few days have been described as exaggerated at best.
There is serious West Ham interest in Issa Diop but it remains to be seen whether the Hammers will win the battle for his signature.
Diop started 34 league games for Toulouse in the 2017/18 season and scoring three goals in the process.
Prefer this lad to Mawson any day of the week, in fact I would also prefer Santos or Smalling ahead of Mawson any day of the week. If I had my choice I would sign Smalling and Diop, with Rice, Ogbanna and Oxford the other centre halfs. If we are playing 3 at the back I would buy Santos.
Ok. So somebody please tell me who’s coming in as every time I read about a player coming to us we get knocked back with it’s all premature or it’s paper talk. Pre season is only a few weeks away now and we have only signed one freebie😞

The club can’t win this battle – either we complain our transfer business is carried out via leaks to the media or we moan we’re not hearing anything! I note that all of the leaks about Felipe Anderson are coming out of Lazio, not West Ham.
I reckon we will end up with a couple more good ‘uns.
