Kalvin Phillips “permanent” option made clear

Kalvin Phillips permanent option to stay at West Ham has been made clear .

Ok, there has been much confusion over whether or not there is in fact an option to make Kalvin Phillips’ stay at West Ham permanent.

And it needs to be mentioned that Ex was the first to break news of the club’s interest in the player so a well done for that mate.

However, given the confusion which saw ourselves and The Athletic claim initially there was no such clause, we went back to our source for clarification.

They had later corrected his report which fell into line with Ex and Fabrizio Romano and when we went back our source he explained that whilst it was essentially “confidential ”  information “the reality the club can’t afford his wages permanently.

“The percentage of wages to turnover has a cap in PL and Europe and has to reduce season by season (over next 2 seasons), so wages are a very big problem.”

However, he then added that we should “never say never” to a permanent deal being done!

What’s the saying ‘beware strangers bearing gifts’….etc
I am sure Man City are delighted with this development – if Phillips signs and does well and we look to convert this into a permanent signing they (City) will I am sure head straight back in for a swap deal for Paquetta – and adjust the prices and salary/signing on levels accordingly. It has its up and significant downsides……..
