Kalvin Phillips to West Ham: We won’t get fooled again

|

A circulating news report suggests that Manchester City’s Kalvin Phillips, is contemplating his future with the Premier League club. This wouldn’t be surprising to those familiar with the situation, as Phillips has seen limited playtime lately.

At 27 years old, Phillips has struggled to secure consistent games under Pep Guardiola. A recent report indicates his readiness to explore new prospects in the upcoming transfer windows, aiming to rejuvenate his career and potentially consider a move as early as January.

Kalvin Phillips to West Ham? Man City midfielder is now open to a Hammers move.

Notably, Phillips turned down offers to join West Ham on three occasions in the past but is now open to considering us as an option. Quite frankly, that fact that the player would consider West Ham as a viable option now his career is stalling, is insulting.

During the previous season, the midfielder faced challenges in securing ample game time, and with the arrivals of Matheus Nunes and Mateo Kovacic, his position within the club has crashed. Surprisingly, despite the lack of club playtime, Phillips continues to make appearances in Gareth Southgate’s England team.

Thereis speculation linking Phillips to transfers to West Ham and Newcastle. However, it’s doubtful that he would be a guaranteed starter in either team, considering the competition, especially from players like Edson Alvarez and James Ward-Prowse in central midfield. Phillips might have missed the opportune moment to make a move when his reputation was at its peak.

I do hope that West Ham don’t get lured into this situation again. David Moyes evidently rates the player highly. But it’s clear that Phillips needs us far more than we need him.
