Kouyate exit edges closer

|

Ed Aarons from the Guardian newspaper claims that Cheikhou Kouyaté looks poised to complete his move to Crystal Palace as Roy Hodgson steps up his recruitment drive ahead of the new season. The report claims the Hammers midfielder, is set for a medical after agreeing to personal terms for a move from West Ham worth £9.5m plus £1.5m in add-ons. The 28-year-old  has spent four seasons as a Hammer after joining from Anderlecht in 2014 for £7m.

Claret and Hugh understand that we should ultimately we should be seeing the exit of Kouyate before the transfer window shuts. Palace are understood to have upped their initial offer after attempting to land Kouyate on the cheap and the player has lowered his wage demands to get the deal over the line. There seems a willingness from all sides to make this happen especially as his agent none other than West Ham favored agent Will Salthouse who has a great friendship with Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parrish.

You’d have thought in today’s markets that he’d be worth at least 13 to 15 million

I would have thought so also Crewe, I like Kouyate as a character, he might go missing sometimes but also he scores his fair share of goals each season.

Crystal Palace was a good move for Tomkins, and will be a good club for Jouyate. I agree with crewehammer, in that Kouyate is worth more than Sean’s total of £11m

I’m gutted. I liked Kouyate. I didn’t mind him going abroad but why sell him to a London rival for a mere £ 9.5 million

The way he played last season i am surprised they paid that much.Hopefully a better quality midfielder to come in.

I’ll be sorry to see him go. However, regarding the price, I don’t understand why our owners are so generous when we sell players. Kouyate’s at least 15m maybe 20 if richarlison can go for 40m. Feghouli we sold for 4m, sakho 8m. We seem surprisingly generous to other teams, or we just wanna get rid. Anyways he’s gone so let’s move forward. I know there’s a lot of positivity at west ham at the moment and deservedly so. Highly regarded new manager that plays attacking, none-hoof it up the pitch football, practically a new back four that was needed after last season’s defence horror show, some attacking midfielders to boot to. In these seemingly heady times, it’s easy to forget the small things that make life worth it, the reasons we get up in the morning, the reasons we work at jobs we don’t like just to make the money. Well friends let me remind you of the greatest feat that this club will achieve this year, or possibly the next ten years. Exciting new manager and players aside, one small detail seems to be being overlooked by some. Well people no more, allow me to kindly remind you that by July 1st 2019, Andy Carroll will cease to be a West Ham player. Yes it’s true. We only have to wait one more season until the ultimate albatross around our necks is gone. So whatever happens this season, the highs and the lows, always remember that there’s only 11 more months of having the China doll associated with West Ham

Sorry to see him go – I hope that he doesn’t score against us but I wish him well. Sorry for the abuse he got from the fans last year
