Lanzini lockdown

|

Manu Lanzini is locked down to West Ham for at least three more years.

The brilliant midfielder and man of the Hammers moment has a contract until July of next season but the club have  a further two year option on him.

Lanzini agreed a four year deal when signing him from Al Jazira in 2016 after a year’s loan at the start of the 2015/16 season.

The £8 million we paid for ‘The Jewel’ is now looking like a piece of quite outstanding business and assuming all goes well with his recovery the club could start talking an extension in the summer.

His early return to action this term gives the club ample time to monitor his progress after a devastating injury and come up with an offer that will suit both sides.

Lanzini arrived at the club on a £20k a week deal which has since been upped to around £50k and looks set for a hefty increase on that when the two clubs settle down to new talks.

A Hammers insider-  talking to ClaretandHugh on the – phone said: “Under the terms of a club option an increase needs to be offered.

“That will most certainly be the case with Manu assuming all goes well between now and the end of the season. He’s obviously a very important player and talks could be be scheduled as early as summer.”
