Last chance saloon for Haller

|

Sebastien Haller needs to impress and find goals fast or risk failure in the Premier League.

The £45m club record missed a hat full of chances against Leeds and patience is wearing thin with supporters unsure whether he will make the grade.

Antonio is expected to fit again for the Chelsea game so that could leave just the Palace game to find his shooting boots again.

The striker seems low on confidence and frustrated with himself.

There are just four more games until the January transfer window opens and another six on top of that until it closes again.

With strong rumours of a move for Josh King time is fast running out for Haller to prove what it takes to make it in the Premier League

There might come a time soon when the manager sanctions his sale at a loss probably abroad and the bade investment is written off by the club.

No-one wants that to happen but this can’t continue forever!

Fornals, Cresswell, Masuaku and Belbuena have all reestablished their reputations this season. Would Cresswell and Masuaku have done so playing fullback in front of the old Chicken Run. Maybe not having supporters has helped? For a long time I’ve felt Haller could turn a corner too but he really is at rock bottom and in if he does not turn it around soon then he is finished at West Ham – he certainly could not turn in performances like this in front of 60,000. That said King is not prolific either and may not be the answer (especially if you take the penalties out of his stats). I’d look at playing Yalmenenko at 9 over Christmas if there is not an immediate turnaround

these negative articles on our players wind me up, seb haller has played 14 games this season scoring 6 goals, antonio has played 7 and scored 3, get off Hallers back, yeh he missed a few but who doesnt,

    • You are including Hull and Charlton?

I have backed Haller all the way but Friday night was a reality checked.Awful first touch ,as cumbersome as a ox and gets bullied by midgets.According to some Josh King is a done deal.I would back him if we signed him.But I would hold fire on King.King would cost 4-5 million which is peanuts. But the player is 30 and hardly played for Bournemouth this season. It would take time to get him up to speed, time we haven’t got.Let’s not forget King has had a fair amount of injuries.Providing we can shift Haller on loan or otherwise,I would go all out to get Oliver Giroud on loan for the rest of the season. He would be able to hit the road running and certainly knows where the goal is.Yes it is a long shot !But with the Euro’s approaching and the player needing matches ,we might be lucky. That would allow us to land someone younger in the summer. We are more than a football club ,we’re a way of life !!!COYI!!!!

You need to change the title to Fornals
He is utter trash. It is like playing with 10 men. At least Haller contributes something now and then although very little.
Fornals is the worst player i’ve seen for a long time but seems undroppable.
    Fornals mis controls constantly
Fornals just kicks it to no one and panicks under pressure
Fornals can not hold on to the ball
Fornals is guaranteed to give the opposition the ball
    He is ****

  • Tom Smith says:

Are we watching the same games? Did Haller fall over in front of goal? Was it an illusion?
Sure, Haller has knocked a few in against the sort of opposition the should flourish. But, when it comes to the big time, he hasn’t done it.
Fair enough, Josh King may not be the absolute answer. But, price wise, he is probably the best we will get at the moment.
Should we get him and he plays for the shirt from the start, that will be a huge improvement on where we are now.

  • Peter Elliott says:

How about playing to his strengths and getting players around him or even playing someone up front with him if we had another fit centre forward he clearly doesn’t fit the lone striker role anybody with football know how can see that play to his strengths and get the best out of him

So here we are again, another definite final last chance for Seb Haller. It’s getting to be like Brexit. I do feel sorry for him, he does at least look frustrated and angry when he fluffs yet another chance, but the fact is he has fluffed an awful lot of chances. We are creating a huge amount of them and the fact is that our main striker (when Mikey is out) is not putting them away. It’s nothing to do with Fornals or King, it’s about Haller, and whatever the excuse, whatever the reason, he is not scoring the goals that we need. I’m sorry but to me his attitude, temperament, and most importantly, his skill, just aren’t there.

I see where you are going with this article but I have not just yet given up on him.. I would agree that he needs to step his game up to another level and I still harbour hope that he will do so. The big difference with Haller and players like Fredericks are that he has the ability to improve whereas why I have been so critical of players like Fredericks is that there never was any room for improvement with Fredericks as he is just an honest but limited player. I would also say that Haller has not been give the same chances as a players like Fredericks so I would say it is premature to say that he cannot cut it at this level. I accept the signs are worrying but he has the ability to win us a game like Sheff United. Here is hoping. I feel if we do sign a striker in January it should be a player that is slightly different than Antonio and Haller so I am not sure King is that player though I do think he is a good player.

  • GaryD says:

Haller has improved, albeit marginally. If Benrhama plays in #10 and Haller gets the service he will need to produce. While not as dominant as Carroll, Haller defends set pieces well, including corners.
As for complaints about Fornal, give it a break. He defends better than Bowen and is key in helping in front of Cresswell. Watch the off-ball movement.
