Latest Crysencio Summerville claim offers clear West Ham warning

West Ham fans have everything crossed that their talismanic winger Crysencio Summerville makes a full recovery and continues his rich vein of form through to the end of the season. With the FA Cup quarter final and Premier League run-in fast approaching, the Hammers have already shown a tendency to struggle in front of goal without their flying Dutchman.

Summerville’s form has been scintillating – and not been going unnoticed further afield. It seems that Irons’ fans concerns about Liverpool seeking to replace Mo Salah with West Ham’s captain Jarrod Bowen are somewhat misplaced.

Former Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has made it very clear who he thinks the Reds should be recruiting to take over from their iconic Egyptian.

“Gerrard nominates surprise West Ham youngster to replace Salah at Liverpool”

Runs the headline in tribalfootball.com.

“..Asked about a replacement, Gerrard suggested West Ham winger Crysencio Summerville.

He told TNT:  “I’m a fan of Summerville. He’s brilliant in the one-on-one.”

“He looks hungry and has proved a bright spot in a team fighting relegation. He also only got better as the season progressed. I think Bowen is a great player, but I don’t think he has the level to replace Salah.

“A winger has to get to the top three, four in the world to succeed him with dignity. Because that is the level that Salah reached at Liverpool”

Which is indeed both a compliment to the player and a warning to the West Ham fanbase: Surviving relegation on its own may not be the only battle West Ham have to fight this year.

Manchester United want Fernandes, Liverpool want Summerville and West Ham’s board need cash.

Sobering thought for a Monday morning if ever there was one.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.

Lovely for the fans thanks 👍

Teams like Liverpool are going to be put off by his injury record, even at a young age. They play way more games in a season that we do.

Let’s have some context here please.
We’re not a relegation fodder establishment!
We’re in this predicament due to poor managerial choices in JLo and Potter. Our current form shows us as the most improved team this year.
Had we begun the season with NES and a proper coaching staff assembled, we’d probably be mid table at worst.
If suitors come calling for our better players, by all means sell, but at top, top prices. No matter what division we end up in come season end.

Man Utd are on same standing as whu regarding money.
They owe more for players already bought and money for interest exceeds whu.
They need a rebuild which amounts to 5-7 players (probably all around £50m).
Some out going whose contracts are ending no options for selling.
Also predicted will need to sell before buying.
Sounds very similar to another premier league club, whose that?
Apparently reaching Champions League won’t bale them out.

Is Gerrard saying Summerville is top 3 or 4 in the world as that is the requirement to replace Salah? If that’s true Liverpool wouldn’t be able to afford him and he would be aiming higher than them

  • Lokfaen says:

Salah is a left-footed inside forward playing on the right side. Summerville is the exact opposite. If Liverpool come for him, it won’t be as a replacement for Salah, but a Director competitor to Gakpo – where they also have young Rio developing…

That’s fine them wanting the players but there are two questions. One, does the player want to leave? Two, are the clubs involved willing to stomp up the cash. These have now both become £80 to £100 million players, they are young and regulary play well in the best league pin the world. This may become more by the end of the season. So to those clubs involved stop talking about it and if you really are interested look to pay big money or shut up.
