Lawrenson sticks with his own

|

Marl Lawrenson totally unsurprisingly sticks by his own when calling the Liverpool v West Ham game tomorrow.

The former Reds defender can always be relied on to stay with the predictable and has no trouble in going for a home win at Anfield.

With both sides suffering key injuries – or in our case just one to Mikey Antonio – one might have imagined that he might be a little less certain of the outcome.

For all though we are without out major striker and goal scorer Liverpool are probably as badly hit or maybe worse by being without their two first choice  central defenders.

Lawrenson, however, appears to believe this is all pretty straightforward and the Hammers are simply travelling for the sake of it.

He probably said much the same last season when we were in a far worse position and form before giving his team one  hell of a scare in a brave 3-2 defeat.

Discussing the game in his BBC website column he writes: “Without the injured Virgil van Dijk, Liverpool are playing a little bit like they know their back door is slightly ajar.

Fabinho’s hamstring injury in midweek clearly does not help in that department. He is extremely unlikely to play in this game, but at least it doesn’t look like he is going to be another long-term absentee.

Having Alisson back in goal is a big boost, but he doesn’t come for crosses so the Reds will need to find a way to deal with that.

West Ham have got their own injury problems too, though. Michail Antonio is their best striker. Without him, West Ham will still be competitive but it is hard to see them getting anything out of this one.”

Prediction: 2-0
