It was something of a surprise to learn yesterday that Nottingham Forest central defender Joe Worrall has slipped down the David Moyes wanted list.
From all accounts approaches were made in the winter and left in abeyance, allegedly leaving the player frustrated which may have something to do with what’s coming out of West Ham now.
The current story – as explained to CandH exclusively – is that recruitment chief Rob Newman is looking to Europe for a new central defender with Issa Diop fancied by next Thursday evening’s Europa Cup opponents Lyon.
Given the continued improvement in Worrall’s game – he was outstanding again yesterday as Forest scored a 4-1 win at Blackpool – it is strange that suddenly the right footed issue is raised again.
With a contract to be awarded to left sided Oggy – who was as brilliant as everĀ before his injury – the hard headed battling Worrall would look to beĀ a superb addition and would allow any Diop sale to go ahead.
A week is a long time in football and we know that Moyes has a habit of changing his mind at times so let’s hope that time arrives along with Worrall.
Hugh, glad you touched on the right sided topic. I know a lot is paper talk but we seem to keep being linked with left sided CB’s. I know Oggy is getting on a bit but surely he has another couple of seasons in him, and Zouma is left sided. If we’re aiming for a right sided CB do you think we’re more likely to go for Milenkovicor Tarkowski?
Wprrall’s my m,an mate and I’ve told the geezers at the top. He’s amazing for me and look at the part he has played in the Forest run
Yeah I really like him, just wonder whether he’ll play right in the two? He’ll struggle to dislodge Zouma on the left side.
I hope we go for him and get him, Moyes would definitely get the best out of him.
