Lingard closes in – report

|

Jesse Lingard is on the verge of a move to Nottingham Forest, according to The Times.

The long-running saga finally appears on the verge of completion but he is poised to join the newly-promoted club instead of making a move to West Ham.

Forest are reported to have made Lingard an offer worth just below £200,000-per-week, a bid that is £50,000-per-week higher than what the Irons offered.

David Moyes was keen to bring Lingard back to the club after his successful loan spell.

The report states the Irons were willing to make Lingard the top earner at the club but there were some doubts over whether that would be a smart move given the wage structure at the London Stadium.

The Hammers are said to remain hopeful that the England international will change his mind as he bids to join a club who can give him a platform to make it into the squad for this year’s World Cup.

glad it’s over, what a colossal waste of time

  • Babelm@n says:

can’t we move on from this, focus on getting a young hungry striker, not an ageing winger who went missing for last 5 games

good, fed up reading about him, move onto sarr and dennis now please.

Best news all day never wanted this greedy and decent player but no superstar coming back. Who says his going to be the player over a year ago now that we had on loan. Thank you forest and thanks lingard for the loan last time now f–k off .

Perhaps Mr Moyes can move on now please? Waiting till the end of July for Lingard to ‘decide’ if we will pay him enough to bother has been eye-wateringly embarrassing.

    Jesse Who ?

What about Gianluca Scamacca ? Does anyone know if that deal is still on ?

Finally… the geezer never wanted west ham anyone who thought this mercenary would hold any respect for us saving his career is dumb. We were a stepping stone in return he contri5towards our Europa qualification , that’s all it was, a transaction.

Dunno about anyone else but I’m glad the pantomime is over, I’d be happy if we got McNeil in tbh.

Great news . This mercenary squad player would rather sit on the bench at United and collect his wages . Good riddance
It is a great shame that Moyes chose to waste a great opportunity to push on by waiting for him to get a better offer . .
I just hope that we have not left it too late to get a top striker . Antonio is a willing runner but terrible finisher . We need a replacement not a back up . At the moment our squad is looking like bottom 6 not top 6 . Unfortunately we have Moyes who has no charisma or tactical awareness so our set piece success will not work for another season but there is not a plan B.
