Lingard explains drop in form as he joins Irons

|

Jesse Lingard has opened up on the personal and family issues that he believes have affected his performances with Manchester United over the past season or two.

The United midfielder has struggled on the field for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side revealed that a number of off-field problems were having an impact.

He confirmed last year that his mother’s depression and having to take care of his two younger siblings affected him greatly.

Lingard was forced to care for 15-year-old brother Jasper and 12-year-old sister Daisy-Boo, as well as his own one-year-old daughter.

Lingard’s grandfather, Ken, was suffering from prostate cancer and his grandmother Pam almost had to have a leg amputated at the same time to add to his worries.

Speaking earlier on his Lingard said:”I was the type of guy that liked to bottle things up, keep everything to myself, but various things happened and I felt it was the right time to speak out. Last season, I was going through some things off the field with my family so it was difficult for me to perform on the field.

I’m very family-orientated and my mum was going through some things last year with depression… she went to London to get that sorted out so in the meantime, I had to look after my little brother and sister who are 12 and 15.

“I was still performing at the same time. You just get to that point where you’re like, ‘I’ve got to actually say something here’. I spoke to my family and stuff like that. It felt so much better.”

With his personal family issues now behind him This is a new start for Jesse in London to show what he can do.

Good luck and Welcome to West Ham Jesse.

Good luck to him, he gets some unwarranted crap from other fans. Sounds like he’s a good bloke. Welcome to the West Ham family

A true West Ham welcome Jesse, let’s hope your family’s problems are over.
Let’s see what you can do 😁

Watching a clip of some of Lingard’s goals, I think he could be our striker. He certainly has the skill and firepower to usurp Yarmolenko up front.
Let’s hope this is a good marriage of convenience and perhaps leads to something more permanent if successful.
    Welcome aboard Jesse ⚒

Don’t bottle things up lads, absolutely no shame in talking about your issues and concerns.

Hope his family issue’s start to ease for him, I trust Moyes judgement and despite some of the nonsense that has been spouted about him prior to an understanding about his family issue’s…. I have always rated him and to say he hasn’t the ability to make a difference at this club is laughable.
So much to prove and this is where he will do it. Moyes obviously knows everything that there is to know about him and knows exactly what he will bring to our squad.

Shame we don’t have an option to buy, if he gets back to form will be an excellent addition. Hope you prove Moyes right, good luck and COYI!!!

  • Mr me says:

He dipped in form before all that, no need to find excuses. Hope family gets better and all is well, but don’t use it as a scapegoat
