The upcoming predicament of one of West Ham’s loanees may not be high on the agenda at the moment given what a momentous week this may or may not be at London Stadium. However, Nayef Aguerd is proving successful on loan at Real Sociedad, being one of the most selected players for the club this season and appearing ten times: Unbelievably Sociedad have only conceded three goals during games when Aguerd was on the pitch.
In an article in Spanish site eldesmarque.com his annual salary costs are highlighted as prohibitive should Real Sociedad want to keep him. The apportionment of his wages between West Ham and Sociedad is not in the public domain but it has now been revealed that his salary received whilst at Sociedad is €3,099,252 which is believed to be far beyond Sociedad’s reach come the end of his loan, as is his value (transfermarkt) at €35 million.
He won’t want to come back, Sociedad will want to keep him but cannot afford him: Another West Ham United-shaped conundrum heading down the line next year.
Surely a sale at a negotiated, affordable amount for Real Sociedad – around €20-25 million – will be the best solution to get the player off West Ham’s books.
It remains to be seen wither Aguerd values staying at Sociedad more than his huge Hammers salary – when his loan finishes he can’t have both. From a purely PSR perspective his original £35 million acquisition price will have been amortised over five years so his ‘book value’ will be £14 m less after two years, making a sale at the lower amount possible.
Where’s the controversy?
If he us performing well maybe other La Liga clubs will be interested. I remember there being rumours in the summer that Atletico were taking a look ar him.
Let’s be honest, there is no controversy, just a made up sensational headline for clicks.
