The London Stadium has been transformed back to an athletics stadium for this weekend’s Anniversary Games.
The stadium becomes a music concert venue to host Muse, then an MLB baseball field to let the New York Yankees and Boston Red Box play ball but it is now ready for athletics.
Founded in 2013 as a legacy to the London 2012 Olympic & Paralympic Games, the Müller Anniversary Games is an athletics meeting which attracts some of the biggest names in the sport.
Forming part of the worldwide IAAF Diamond League tour, this year’s Müller Anniversary Games takes place on Saturday 20 & Sunday 21 July and has seen both British and international stars confirmed to compete.
Saturday’s action sees Britain’s middle-distance superstar Laura Muir take to the same track on which she broke the British 1500m record for the first time some three years ago, while the women’s pole vault, led by Olympic champion Katerina Stefanidi, is one of the strongest assembled in history.
The day will be brought to a close by the women’s 4 x 100m relay in which two British teams will compete and look to show well ahead of the IAAF World Championships in Doha this Autumn.
The stadium will transformed again back into football mode by the end of July ready to stage the Betway Cup on 3rd August.
