Luton help Hammers with Toon win

Luton Town did West Ham a massive favour today by beating Newcastle 1-0 at Kenilworth Road with a goal by former Magpie Andros Townsend. The Hatters’ win ensures West Ham remains in 6th place in the Premier League.

Ironically, the Toon loss puts extra pressure on manager Eddie Howe.  The former Bournemouth boss has been linked with the Hammers’ job in recent days.

Luton help Hammers by beating Newcastle but must have been relieved captain Tom Lockyer had been discharged from hospital.

West Ham moved above Manchester United and into 6th place in the early kick-off this afternoon. Goals from Mohammed Kudus and Jarrod Bowen sealed all three points for the Hammers. The win will come as welcome relief to David Moyes, who came under pressure following the 5-1 midweek thrashing at the hands of Liverpool.

The win at the London Stadium was precisely what West Ham needed and allows us to enjoy Christmas in a very lofty league position. The Luton win is also excellent news for the club, which has suffered a terrible week. Captain Tom Lockyer has been discharged from the hospital after a cardiac arrest during the game against Bournemouth, so with the win today, things seem to be looking up.
