Magical Moyes the man of the moment

|

I have no intention of letting this evening pass without saying a few words about David Moyes!

That he has now saved this football club from relegation twice, this time  in some of the worst circumstances the game has had to live through, is a magnificent achievement which should surely be applauded by every fan although of course it won’t be.

Beyond that, this guy has inspired a spirit into this squad which really has had to be seen to be believed. The type of performance we saw tonight and those against Chelsea and Watford in particular were extraordinary given what had gone before.

Players who looked disinterested to the point of receiving accusations from  of not caring have been ‘born again’ under Moyes – another mesmerising piece of management.

Tonight in a game which saw us 11/1 against to win the game and around 6/1 to manage a point we looked the most likely of the two teams to get a result.

With a midfield to die for, Moyes has managed all this in just three or four months and although I have been among his critics at times the proof of the pudding is in the end result.

He needs a big thank you after saving us last time when discontent was at its highest and a crowd invasion resulted, before doing it again during these horrendous health problems.

To be honest it is nothing short of a magical performance from a bloke who has been unfairly criticised by my myself at times and many others.

Moysie – ClaretandHugh applauds you.

Least we forget, he saved us and made the team long so much more stronger and workmanlike the last time he was here too, and then those isiots in charge got rid of him for a ‘ vanity’ signing if a manager. I hope they don’t try and pull that one off again as this team could really push on next Season. COYI’S

A well deserved away point by our improving team but let’s not get carried away as under both managers we beat Norwich Watford Chelsea and Southampton with the difference being home win v Bournemouth and a home win over Manure.

  • Saul says:

Fair enough, I have also been a great critic of his but he has saved us again and in some style in the last few weeks. He has earned his £2m bonus for keeping us up as well as his shot at building a team over the next few years.

Congrats to him and well done to all at West Ham

You were calling for him to be sacked a few games ago just to curry favour with readers. . David moyes was treated disgracefully by the club and so cafans two year ago . I was very grateful to David then. All our dumb supporter were slagging him without any gratitude at all. Then we got Pelllegrini. So i guess you got what you deserved. ,, a sloppy Chilean coach. ,What Moyes has brought back to the club again is a set of standards based on honesty, something we didnt have under BIlic, Allardycxe or Pellegrini. IN my opinion it is wiser to write consistent journalism rather than try to be popular,a leaf out of David’s book perhaps!!! loyalty is a virtue.

    • Read it again. You obviously have an agenda. Can’t recall ever calling for him to be sacked and I’m not interested in currying favour with you, anyone like you or any other fan. I have certainly criticised him and have admitted so. Just get your facts right before gobbing off with false accusations. Some of us have no problem admitting we are wrong – then there’s the others like yourself who glory in unsupportable superiority complexes which apparently makes a huge proportion of the supporters dumb. Sad git

unecessary as the mam has clearly owned up to his mistakes and has congratulated and thanked the manager. that’s all it needs. he bigged up and doesn’t deserve a pasting for that

Moyes is actually the best manager we have had in the last 20 years and his vision of signing young dynamic players is to be applauded and certainly making me feel warmer about the direction the club is going in.

Sadly some of our fans are the worst examples of the human specie I have seen in the last 60 years and that unfortunately will not change.

Still not sure about his use of subs, and some of his tactics. But give him his due, he has saved us twice, and has more than earned his chance to build a squad we can be proud of. Recent transfers have shown he has a solid plan. We’ll done Moyesy.

  • Simon M says:

Echo your sentiments, sir. Yes indeed. The man has done it twice with a team mixture of good and bad players.
They looked really compact tonight against Manu.
Some guys have again superbly improved under Moyes I.e. Antonio, Fornals, Oggie and Declan. Tomas and Jarred is simply class players.
So indeed. Well done and again a Big Thanks Mr Moyes. Everything of the best to you and your fam, and your plans to make us much better next season. God bless.

  • ExPat_Hammer says:

He’s done well. For the board to swallow some humble pie and bring him back was a good thing. The real test will be the next full season; who we get rid off and what hidden gems he can find with meager funds he’s provided (as with his Everton days). Can’t blame the board for not having a kitty – clubs have bled some money…

We have a very decent bunch of players in Bowen, Antonio, Rice, Fornals, Diop, Oggie and the “Pole in the Goal”. And, of course, our aging club captain.

    Whew…what a year!!!

  • The Cat says:

I’m not quite sure what Moyes has to do to win some of our supporters round, but it’s probably because some would like to be proved right even if it is to the detriment of the club.
But tonight is a celebration of a great team performance, engineered by our Manager Moyes.
Moyes, you’ve done it again….take a well-deserved bow as you’ve earned it. I hope that despite the current situation finance wise, money is raised somehow to fund this first stage in the re-building of this club from the ground up and to turn us into a club of excellence from our scouting set-up and academy through to the first-team progression. A model that with a little patience like we used to have as a club, I feel that we can achieve (Leicester have proved that it can be done). You’ve done us proud….. COYI

  • GoldenIrons says:

I think having been dropped for Pellegrini and then rehired to clean up the mess likely works in Moyes’s favour.

After Moyes saved us the first time, I thought he should have been given a contract because it was the right thing to do, not because I wanted him to be the manager. However, after coming back and saving us again, now I do want him to be the manager.

Coming back and doing it again means he’ll have a level of support that he wouldn’t have had last time.

I’m also impressed that he didn’t hold a grudge. I probably would have told G&S where to go, after last time.

  • Nick Harvey says:

A well deserved point today and whilst I’m not a fan of Moyes he deserves the opportunity to build his own squad and develop the team his way.

  • West Ham Fan No 32 says:

He should be given the same funds other managers including Allardyce have been given, what he has achieved has been very good, he has signed two excellent players in Soucek and Bowen, he has some excellent ones in Antonio, Fornals, Fabianski and Ogbonna, He also has some high quality ones that have been underperforming in Diop, Anderson, Haller, Wilshere, Lanzini and Yarmolenko, it will be interesting to see what happens with that latter bunch, Yarmo and Diop were showing signs of improvement and all of those players with the exception of Diop have had a series of injuries so there may be some good reasons why they weren’t up to the level of athleticism of others. With Ben Johnson emerging at left back, Noble rolling back the years to surprise some, myself included once again at the end of the season things look brighter, am quite willing for once to listen to Moyes under promise on our future, hope the rumours coming out of the club are the same about transfer kitty because if anyone ever did deserve a break and some respect it’s Moyes COYI !!!

  • mjfuller44 says:

I have to agree with and say well done for admitting you got it wrong before. I’m the same. I was glad he they let Moyes go last time and delighted when they signed Pellegrini… oh how wrong I was! Now I’m wondering if we would have been better giving Moyes more time. Perhaps Man U would have been better if they had given him more time too. It seems Moyes works his magic over a longer period of time than we (collectively, and me included) allow these days. This time I will take the longer view, hope he gets more time, and have a little faith. We tried the signature manager and throwing loads of money at the squad, and that failed! Come on Moyes!

  • MattR says:

Spot on! What I’m liking is that I actually enjoy watching us play again. Well organised at the back, quick to move the ball up the park, usually on the ground and not giving up possession softly. Goals don’t all come from set pieces or hoofball. Best of all the players all understand their jobs and care again and Moyes isn’t willing to carry passengers on the offchance of 2 seconds worth of magic, except Yarmo perhaps, but even he gets back when needed. Really not sure what some fans want. The Pelle experiment didn’t exactly go well. Thanks DM and welcome back!

  • Duncan McLeod says:

I shall reserve my judgment for the end of next season. It will be interesting to see how we deal with the issue of our more attacking players such as Felipe Anderson, Lanzini, Haller and Yarmo. Can he get those guys off their arses and fighting for the cause?

  • NYWHU says:

It’s a tale of two seasons. For much of the year we were lackluster and poor, but in July everything has finally come together. Hopefully that will carry over to next season. A lot will depend on whether we can hang on to Rice — he’s a fantastic talent at both ends and his energy is a critical to the team. He and Bowen were both relentless against MU.
