Now this isn’t something we’ve seen much of during a two year West Ham career: A manager coming out publicly in defence of his much – criticised player who has been castigated by fans on social media.
Especially when the player concerned is Jean Clair Todibo, hardly a stranger to controversy and criticism. During his West Ham stint he managed to fall out with Julen Lopetegui, Graham Potter and Nuno Espírito Santo – so to discover the manager at his loan side RC Lens is speaking up for the player is something of a surprise.
As reported by sportwitness.co.uk, Todibo’s manager Yannick Cahuzac has urged his loanee not to pay too much attention to RC Lens supporters comments:
“RC Lens manager Yannick Cahuzac has urged Jean-Clair Todibo not to give too much attention to social media criticism while defending the online attacks against the West Ham United loanee….
The French media slammed the 26-year-old for his poor display in RC Lens’ latest defeat. L’Equipe even blamed him for conceding the second goal against Club Brugge.

Todibo’s new start at RC Lens – seemingly his manager and team-mates are on his side… for now
Cahuzac has now come to defend the Frenchman. He reveals Jean-Clair Todibo has been late to training only once for a justified reason and RMC Sport have relayed his comments.
“I find it harsh, ‘JC’ is a true professional. He was only late once, and that was because his son had an asthma attack. He had warned me beforehand. We shouldn’t give it too much importance [to social media criticism],” he said.”
Ever since his Barcelona days, Jean-Clair Todibo and criticism are never far apart.
However it does seem that in this instance he’s got the manager and the dressing room on his side, which contradicts claims made last week that RC Lens wanted to cancel his loan and send him back to West Ham.
It’ll certainly be a relief to Nuno and quite possibly the whole West Ham squad to learn that Todibo won’t be back in their midst come January. The tricky part will be keeping him away for good: But that’s a problem for another transfer window.
Todibo vs Killman is a no contest. One is quick , can tackle and , heaven forbid, jump . The other is static, can’t tackle and never jumps . Thanks to Nuno guess which one we got . I am not excusing Todibo for throwing out his dummy . He fet like a scapegoat and was made to look as though the defensive problems were down to him . Nuno’s job should have been to deal with the problem, not ostracise the player . Kilman was and unfortunately still is the problem. Look how we performed without him against how we perform with him . Enough said …
This is a story ?
From the start I’m with Todibo on this one. Specifically because our manager did NOT defend his player, even if his reaction was excessive.
The manager was completely at fault using a draughty back 5 that had not been properly coached because nobody covered the other. It would have been simple enough to mumble some appreciation why player felt miffed and over reacted; instead he ducked and let the player get it in the neck.
He is also a quick, physical CB who reads the game well.
It will be a relief for NES who deserves a swift one in the bojangles for his arrogant treatment of players. From the start I’m with Todibo on this one. Specifically because our manager did NOT defend his player, even if his reaction was excessive.
