Manuel Pellegrini’s Leicester pre-match press conference

|

Manuel Pellegrini hosted his regular pre-match press conference on Thursday at Rush Green giving reporters an update before West Ham plays Leicester at Kings Power Stadium on Saturday evening.

Pellegrini started but talking about injuries by saying  “Unfortunately, we have a lot of long injuries. Andriy Yarmolenko he has had surgery so he will be out around five or six months. The others, Andy Carroll and Jack Wilshere are recovering, same with Winston Reid and Manuel Lanzini and Carlos Sanchez. Andy is sometimes working with the squad, other times he recovers in the gym. He is improving. I hope that he can after the international break, I am not 100 per cent sure when. Maybe the last game before the break, we will see.

Pedro had, at the end of last week, a small calf injury in his muscle. It is not serious but he needs some days more to recover. I hope he will be ready on Wednesday for the cup game.”

On Yarmolenko devasting injury he added “I am very disappointed because he is an important player for us, arrived in the summer to have more technical players in our team. We also have Wilshere and Lanzini out, all similar players in the same positions. It is really a pity. It’s so difficult to know how he will recover but I don’t think it will be less than five or six months. You need to recover your best shape, recover your trust, it is not easy.”
