Marko calls up West Ham fan to explain

|

Marko Arnautovic called West Ham season ticket holder Baz Cox this afternoon after Baz challenged him on social media.

Baz asked Arnie in Instagram ‘What’s the truth? If we like playing in front of us and the London Stadium, will you be here in August?”

Arnie replied to Baz asking him to send him his mobile number so he could explain over the phone in person saying “I will speak to you, I want to know something about the Isla Situation. If you like to talk, send me your number, I will call you”

Post telephone call Baz relayed a message from Arnie which reads “I had to consider the offer as we all would in any job. My family are my priority and had to check with them before announcing anything. I fought Stoke to join West Ham as it’s a big club with big history.

“Since Everton away I’ve played in pain and with injections for the club the fans and my teammates. I’m back Tuesday and will give 100% for this club”

Arnie also asked about Isla and then said “I will see Rob (Snodgrass) tomorrow and sort some stuff out for you both for her”

Showing some contrition, which I appreciate. He’s still in the bad books as far as I’m concerned but he plays for us and so has my support. He needs to do his talking on the pitch, rather than on the phone, and if he’s still here this time next year banging in the goals and giving his all, then sure, he’ll be out of those bad books. It’s down to him.

Showing at least an effort here to win back the fans, perhaps with some help and guidance from the likes of Nobes and Snods? but at least showing some kind of conscience. This is a player afterall who, say what you like about him, has always, win or lose, walked around each stand of the London stadium at the end of a game to applaud the fans. Those that don’t stay till the end wouldn’t know that of course.
