I don’t have to cast my mind back very far to find a player of whom Arthur Masuaku reminds me.
The skill of this extraordinary Frenchman is quite unbelievable and it’s pretty simple to make a comparison.
He came unhrealded and at half the price of Dimitri Payet yet is gliding past players in a way which we hadn’t seen from the other geezer in half a season or more.
Yes, of course it’s the earliest of days but skill remains skill and watching even the very glimpses of him You Tube videos is an exciting pastime.
That he should have cost a mere £5 million; that David Moyes recognised immediately what he was all about and that he should be gliding past defender and after defender in the last match is remarkable for Hammers fans.
As I say, early days and consistency and oh yes, already a song has been created for him.
The further forward he plays the better. The more fear he will put into the opposition. While he attracts more attention and his game suffers a bit ( at first ), he will make more space for Lanzini to get his best attacking form back.
The more opposition teams see his attacking abilities the more nervous they will get, and the more penalties we will gain. He does need to push hard into the area. When he faints to go wide for a cross, and switches to cut inside he will win penalties.
His short passing sometimes lets him down. with his passing being to strong for anyone to control, but that will improve as he trains more as an attacker.
I’m not afraid to compare him to Bale, because he has the potential to do similar to what Bale has done, but it’s early days yet.
