David Gold hopes the mini West Ham revival becomes major when the Hammers enter their second London derby in five days at the London Stadium on Wednesday night.

The co chairman admitted in this ClaretandHugh exclusive that his best bet ahead of the matches against City and Chelsea was two points maximum but the three points from two games against two of the big four had thrilled him.

He said: “Even a point against Arsenal would become signs of something major for me and it would be amazing to take another three points on Wednesday.”

Gold admits that he is not at all surprised Arthur Masuaku is blowing everybody away adding: “I’ve loved him going forward from Day One and the levels of skill he is showing is exceptonal. He’s just going straight past world class players..”

With Michael Antonio leaving everything on the pitch and Marko Arnautovich putting in the hard miles,Manu Lanzini, showing great skills and every single squad member playing to maximum Gold believes we could be on the march.

And he added: “If result go our way we can be out of the bottom three by Wednesday night – like most fans I’m excited and can’t wait for the next game.

“This all goes down to David Moyes and the team he has assembled. The transformation is remarkable and we can’t  see what comes next.

Watching Stuart Pearce let loose on the ball from the touchline on Saturday brought a smile to Gold’s face and he said: “There’s an intensity and passion you can almost feel and it’s transmitting to the players so fast. Yes it’s exciting.”

I know he is not everyone’s cup of tea and he makes the occaisional gaffe but I like DG he is always open honest and available despite getting dogs abuse from some fans.

  • Willtell says:

Seriously! When will our owners ever stop gobbing off! Surely Mr Gold is old enough to know that heaping pressure on the players before a game is not wise. Owners need to keep their mouths shut.

I don’t think he could possibly put any more pressure on than our fans already have. I agree re them not being controversial but these were harmless comments aimed at encouragement and they pretty much reflect our own feelings.
