Maxwell Cornet may get a start

As we all now know, Jarrod Bowen will be unavailable for West Ham in tonight’s Europa League clash against Backa Topola due to a knee injury. Sadly he has been joined by Edson Alvarez and Mohammed Kudus which suggests perhaps Maxwell Cornet may get a start writes Michael Talbot.

With a demanding schedule ahead, manager David Moyes may opt to rest several other key players for the match as well , strategically navigating through upcoming fixtures against Crystal Palace, Tottenham, and Freiburg.

The outcome of these matches is crucial, potentially determining West Ham’s standing in the group and influencing their path in next year’s Europa League knockout play-offs

Moyes updated fans on his plans for Backa Topola on Wednesday evening, confirming in his pre-match press conference that Bowen hadn’t made the journey to Serbia while a couple of other unidentified players will also miss out through illness.

“Jarrod hasn’t travelled and we have another couple who have some illness who haven’t travelled, but I am not prepared to say who they are,” a guarded Moyes said.

It has subsequently transpired that the “couple” he was talking about were Messrs Kudus and Alvarez. Both are influential players and it will be interesting to see who takes their place, I would not at all be surprised if the rarely seen Maxwel Cornet gets a start as I suggested earlier.

Even though we seem to have a far stronger squad than last season, this will be a perfect opportunity to at least give him some sort of appearance although we wait expectantly for Divin Mubama.
