Minds need making up at West Ham, currently a club where certainty is as rare as a win in 2024.
Currently we have David Moyes as uncertain as it gets in the transfer market and in making changes to his team, Karren Brady reportedly supporting him, David Sullivan seemingly uncertain and Daniel Kretinsky reportedly frustrated at the whole scenario.
Minds need making up at West Ham
This is not a great scenario a couple of years after the manager claimed he was set to build an energetic and youthful new West Ham. Instead he managed to build the oldest team in the Premier League – three short of the required squad maximum.
He did, however, manage to build a new West Ham but the problem is it is actually the old Everton where Soucek is the new Fellaini, He continues to produce tactics amd formations which are all about defence.
On Sunday we went to Forest with just two changes made to a team that was humbled 6-0 by the Gooners and which hasn’t won a game this year. That team produced next to nothing. Certainty on what to do next eh? Don’t think so. And let’s not even talk about the transfer market, I might lose the will to live – joking!
Meanwhile, the can keeps getting kicked down the road by the board where DS seems uncertain, as chief shareholder, where to go as a result of all this. Maybe that’s understandable as RUSHING into appointing a new boss with no fear of relegation maybe a realistic, if miserable choice, for the fans. The truth is no new manager is going to come in at this stage of the season unless he gets a two year deal minimum – three months is hardly the most engaging situation.
Let’s just hope Tim Steidten is certain of where he is going in the search for a new boss – because Claret and Hugh’s certainty is that Moyes must be replaced. Brady seem certain of her position in supporting the bloke but we can do without those sort of certainties can’t we?
Meanwhile Kretinsky is apparently frustrated at not being able to affect things although one hopes he has had many words in the correct ears.
West Ham – DO SOMETHING!
I completely agree with you Hugh. For ages I have been complaining that we are the Everton under moyes and that Soucek is his fellani. His methods remain his tried and trusted. He hasn’t evolved in modern football..
I know C&H has a deep grudge against DM and must feel validated by the current situation. I also know the current situation is not great. But the big picture – league position a d Europe – isn’t bad. All teams have ups and downs. I’d put money on the fact that we will turn a corner, suddenly win a few games and C&H will reluctantly have to eat its words. I know you don’t like this phrase, but be careful what you wish for.
Fair enough -we will see Jeremy
I only dislike it cos it is used too often and therefore has become a cliche
