Moyes claims to have been offered a new deal

|

David Moyes is this afternoon busily claiming he will make the decision on whether he accepts a new contract he claims to have been offered.

Frankly, not many will believe that any contract offer will last if he doesn’t very quickly turn results around at the club starting on Monday evening against Brentford.

It seems very much from where I am sitting that the Scot wants us all to believe that he’s  in charge of his won fate and will make his decision at the end of the season. Either that or he knows it won’t happen and is saving face!

How he can possibly believe – given his experience in the game  – that anyone will accept what he is saying in the current circumstances is mind boggling.

Defeat on Monday evening will make it nine games without a win and after Everton and Burnley comes a really tricky set of confrontations with the likes of Spuds, Liverpool, Man City involved.

Then there’s Europe and something will have to hang on that given the celebrations that were held after the Conference win.

This statement – which is understood to have come out of his press conference – should be treated with great caution as he hasn’t been able to leave it simply at being offered a contract.

Once again he has made it about him and it is significant he chose a moment to make such a statement when he knows a large percentage of fans want him gone .

It almost seems like a kick in the teeth at those who feel that way because during my 50 years plus in the game I have never heard such a statement made by anyone else but the club itself.

Mr Moyes really does appear to have a high horse problem given also that he reminded us he may not be the most entertaining manager but the “one who wins is sitting here.”

I dunno about anyone else but I’m sick of hearing his voice.
