A source inside the club on the backroom staff added that didn’t know but hoped he may “play a bit ” adding that the manager was being cautious because everybody understood he wouldn’t be at his best were he to be involved at all.

The manager addressed the situation in his presser ahead of the match at lunch time and that whilst the midfielder was back in training and very close to returning added: “We’ll have to see where he is until Monday.

And of Brentford he added: “They’ve always been a really tough opponent. Thomas Frank has done a really good job, but we’re quite a few points above them so we must be doing something right.”

He also had a word on Ivan Toney who has scored in four games from six since returning to the side adding: “The games I’ve seen Toney play, he’s played really well. He’s a big player for them, I’ve been impressed by his performances, by his football intellect. He’s missed a lot of football but he’s come back in great condition.”
