Moyes gives Dawson update

|

Craig Dawson remains a doubt for the match against Brighton on Sunday as he continues to recover from a muscle problem.

Kurt Zouma, Pablo Fornals, Michail Antonio and Said Benrahma will also be pushing for starts after being among the substitutes for the European match, whilst we can expect Lukasz Fabianski to return between the posts.

However, there is still no certainty over Dawson who missed pre-season and is still apparently only “recovering” although Moyes doesn’t appear to believe he will be absent for much longer.

Gianluca Scamacca looks certain to hold his place after his goal-scoring start against Viborg and Benrahma, he looks certain to return after his fine game against Nottingham Forest.

As usual, Moyes was giving out a few clues ahead of the game against Brighton – a team am which is proving a real problem for the Hammers to beat in recent seasons.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Moyes said: “I don’t think we’ve had [anything new] from last night.

“We’re trying to get people back as we’ve a few people injured at the moment. We hoping to get them back and be as strong as we possibly can for this game against Brighton at the weekend.

“Craig Dawson is not too far away now too, and some of the players getting their first match last night was really important.

“Angelo Ogbonna played – and we probably might not have pushed him so quickly if we had other people available, but we gave him a chance to get back in and he’s done well.”
