ust when we thought we had turned the corner on the injury front, we now have three more!
Ahead of our six- pointer on Sunday, our increasingly beleaguered Supremo has announced that there are doubts over left-back Emerson, centre-back Nayef Aguerd and striker Gianluca Scamacca, who have all just come back from International duty.
Speaking on the trio, Moyes has said late calls will be needed to gauge their availability.
“Pretty good,” said the Moyes when asked about the squad’s fitness in general.
“We’ve got a couple of illnesses here and there and a couple of odd injuries.
“Emerson has got a bit of sickness, Aguerd came back with a bit of a “grumbly” hip and Scamacca’s got a sore knee. We’ll need to see how they are in the next few days.”
But we do have three players back in the squad. Goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski (cheek/eye) and striker Michail Antonio (calf) have both been seen back in training, as well as Vladimir Coufal who played in both of Czech Republic’s matches during the international break – despite having missed West Ham’s last five games with a heel injury.
Moyes has history on giving little away on team selection fronts so maybe this is smoke and mirrors.
Well done to the board who have, apparently, got WHUFC back in the black. The squad has many youth players who never get a chance. What is the point of that? Every team gets injuries and illnesses.
He’s always negative !! This is one of the best selection of players available that he’s is able to choose from ?
Do you see Southamptons manger bemoaning their injuries ?
I watched both press conferences where both managers gave updates. From my perspective Southampton have alot more players unavailable than we do. Moyes is playing everyone in particular the board and treating us as fools. Let’s stop giving Moyes any more excuses. If we do not beat Southampton at the weekend it has to be over. He has to go. I really hope the penny drops with the owners and they make the right decision.
