David Moyes has refused to give an update on Issa Diop and Kurt Zouma.
The Hammers are preparing for this weekend’s clash with Chelsea, which will kick off a huge week of football for the Irons.
They are also set to play Eintracht Frankfurt in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final, before then playing Arsenal in another London derby.
It could be seen as a make-or-break week for the Irons, who were dealt a significant blow with the news of Diop’s injury. We understand that he is set to be out for the remainder of the season.
Zouma, by comparison, limped out of the loss to Brentford and missed the second leg against Lyon in the quarter-finals.
The lack of an update from Moyes may well be concerning, with the Hammers in desperate need of bodies in defence, given that Angelo Ogbonna is not set to return before the end of the campaign.
Speaking at his pre-Chelsea press conference, as per the Hammers’ official website, Moyes said: “I’m not going to put timescales on it.
Would you not argue that in fact the silence is better news? If both were out for the season I think he would just say it as it is. I think the silence is good news. I’m hopeful we will see Zouma again this season.
Alese playing for the u23’s tonight.
Baptiste not in the squad.
Strange to risk Alese if both are out still.
Thanks Boleyn, very helpful
