Moyes knockers put in their place

|

Reports that West Ham have made contact with Verona manager Ivan Juric has not been mixed  by Hammers fans. But the knockers have been told to get over themselves by ClaretandHugh follower Steve. Here’s his response to the manager’s critics.

By CandH follower Steve

Anti-Moyes sentiments annoy the hell out of me and stink of people that just have to find a negative.

Our win ratio is similar under Moyes as it was with Pellegrini.

Yes….but the goal differential in those loses was WAY less under Moyes indicating we are getting better. And remember, the most recent losses came against Liverpool twice and Man City.

There is a positivity amongst the players now that was clearly not there under Pelle.

Everyone screamed out for us to play more attacking and let the boys run. We’re now doing that. And they look far better for it.

As for leaving subs until late…..who says you have use subs at all? If you out your best 11 on the pitch and they can stay out there without noticeably tiring, then let them play.

Changing managers again, without giving Moyes a pre-season and a decent transfer window would be disgusting behaviour by our board. Assuming we stay up of course!

We should not change unless a proven, Premier League experienced (and highly successful) manager became available. And even then, only if we we’re prepared to spend the money to build what they need around them.

I mean…. who knows if Klopp is even that good without all the money spent on recruiters, scouts, training facilities….networks of people. By all reports, we have one scout and an owner who doesn’t know how to keep his nose out.

Just give Moyes a break people…..you have champagne taste on a beer budget. And I think the current brew is not too shabby.

Precisely ! Moyse has been given the job, that’s it. Let him get on with it. Support the team , & we will see where we are at the end of the season.

    Totally agree.
If not for a couple of errors at Liverpool and missed chances against Arsenal we would have another 6 points.
We are certainly looking a better side both in defence and attack.
Its been great to watch over the past few weeks albeit frustrating at times due to above reasons but overall we look better.

  • Adam Cakey says:

I thought he was unlucky not to be kept on the first time given what he did. He seems to be doing a decent job this time and the players have definitely responded. As he said, they just need to continue to avoid the errors and then score their chances.

    • Graham Watts says:

Fully agree with Steve and other comments. Give the bloke a chance to build and with all our young players coming on well he is the right guy to nurture and get them in the team!

      • Beatz says:

Good piece Hugh and totall agree. I think Moyes was brave to take the job again considering the place we were in. He brings players from lower divisions instead of other countries, i know they dont all pay off but we need managers that will tap into home grown talent. If we do get relegated Moyes will take us straight back up i have no doubt. COYI

        • Hammero says:

He was desperate for a job, based on fact no other team in Europe would touch him with a barge pole. He has brought in Soucek, who was from overseas not lower league. Last time he even managed to get Evra back from France and Hugil from Preston, who had less minutes on pitch that season than man planting the corner flag. All for debate, and opinions but the man is a failure of a manager. And if we get relegated with this squad he should be ushered very quickly out of the club, not left to bring through youngsters

  • C.F. says:

Fair but strong reaction to the moaners that continue to sow all this negativity….

  • Matty53 says:

    Moyes is doing ok
Just a thought how long has Kevin Nolan
    Been with us ?

  • Hammero says:

Unfortunately the points Moyes has won in 2 spells do not support your article. If you are ok with 5 straight away defeats, 3 scored 11 conceded then you are very easily pleased. As for subs, yes every manager uses them and for a good reason. It is painfully clear to see Noble cannot run after an hour, he has even said himself he needs a rest, but Moyes left him on until we conceded. He is a reactive manager and not proactive. Whether you think he is better than pellegrini was he the best man for the job. He needs to win 4 of his next 7 matches to equal the record of the other great West Ham managerI am appointment by Sullivan, Avram Grant.

I will support the team, but can criticise the manager who is clearly not good enough, and as for negativity, Moyes himself is the most negative person associated with the club. Look at displays away to City and Leicester. And his subs when 3-1 up to Brighton

  • Saul says:

It’s not moaning to point out deficiencies. I agree with Hammero, i haven’t seen anything that supports the fact that Moyes is going to be successful with us. However, as i have no say in whether he continues with us or not i just have to carry on supporting the team. I’m allowed an opinion though, without being called a ‘moaner’ or ‘negative’ just because it is at odds with others’ opinions. And, my opinion is, if we stay up we’ll be alright next season and if we don’t, we won’t!! But Moyes isn’t helping the former from where i’m sitting…

  • slidingtackle says:

Couldn’t agree more with Hammero and not the orginal post.
Moyes is negative. City,Arsenal and Liverpool were there to get points off as recent results have proved. His use of subs is dire. Leaving Noble on was sinful.Noble had done his part and played well. But needed to come off after 65 minutes,no more. He had Soucek chomping at the bit.
I can’t believe some of the replies to this post.If we go down we won’t come up ,we’ll lose 80% of the squad ,we always do.
“avoid the errors and then score their chances”
“If not for a couple of errors at Liverpool and missed chances against Arsenal we would have another 6 points.”
We’ll be top if that happended
“He brings players from lower divisions instead of other countries”
Took him 3 games to play Bowen from the start when he bought

We would have 30 points over the course of the season with Moyes. He was lucky last time. I’ve got an awful feeling he won’t be this time.
Never wanted him in the first place let alone this time.
    Dreadful manager.

  • Hammerhearted says:

I admire the COYI attitude of your piece but struggling to place Moyes anywhere but the bottom end of the stream of managers we have endured since the days of Lyalls CnB army. The hairs still stand up on my neck when I go back to the Brighton game, I totally lost it when I saw Masuaku waiting to come on (ended up in an argument with the bloke next to me about it), suspected a change of shape but could not have guessed it would involve dragging Snodgrass into a back 6. Disgraceful and got what it deserved,,, snatching defeat from the throat of victory against a poor team having a bad day. That is not the stamp of a manager I want at my club. Followed by the embarrassing capitulation at Citeh. Our most diabolical performance in a long time, when all the answers were sat on the bench. Tie him to Lady Brady and thrown em in the Thames.

  • Viv says:

Totally agree with article. I think Moyes is the best manager we’ve had since John Lyall. I don’t take any notice if stats since you’re talking about a manager who has taken over in a relegation crisis and has had to play mostly top of the table teams. The improvements are there for all to see even in games we have lost. And in games we have won and win well like Bournemouth and Southampton games he has already given us our best wins of the season with far more attacking football than the so called attacking coach pellegrini could ever manage.

  • Steve says:

Just FYI…..I stand by what I posted but I had no idea this would be grabbed and published as an “article” on CaH. I also had zero to do with the headline or the intro. I did not refer to anyone as “knockers” and I certainly did not tell anyone to “get over themselves” which, I must say, is a little disappointing from the editor.

  • DutchCourage says:

Awful manager as the statistics over 2 spells clearly show. I would say he’s the worst manager this club has ever had, and that’s saying something.

It was a mistake to employ him the first time and nothing short of criminal to do so a second time.

  • Rickyb says:

Blimey poor old moyes if it wasn’t for him we may have been swimming aimlessly in the championship right now!!
So we should be grateful he accepted the job a second time around after they gave pellegrini all the keys to the gaff!
    Besides who else was available??
All the managers we have had he is hardly the worst I would give him a full season as I feel we will stay up now that he has found the right formation! Coyi!!
