Moyes moment of Hammers destiny is at hand

|

David Moyes has taken plenty of stick in some quarters since his return to the Hammers but if ever a bloke drew the short straw with our club it’s surely him.

The history is patently clear – a massive and ultimately successful relegation the first time and being brought in to follow the managerial flop of flops second time around.

Then on top of that he was hit with an unparalleled situation which brought the world as we know it to a halt just as there were signs that he was starting to get things right.

That he chose to come back in the first place was  entirely his decision and he will be working night and day to ensure that we produce the form which can see him become a long term PREMIER LEAGUE Hammers manager.

Some may be unhappy that football has returned, and the manager has expressed his own doubts about the restart, but at least – with fingers firmly crossed – he has the chance to prove himself on the pitch rather than have his destiny decided by a relegation scenario dreamt up by the PL ‘suits.’

He deserves that break and the opportunity to show us that he can take the Hammers in hand and finally bring some long term stability to this club of ours.

He built Everton in his own image over a long period of time and, yes, the game has changed considerably since then but it would be good to think he can do a similar job at the London Stadium.

A moment of destiny for him, us and the club may be at hand.

His time has come and he will deserve his chance to manage us next season if he puts sentiment to one side and picks the best 11 players/ If he does not do this then we will be relegated and he will be sacked, his career over. I for one will not be surprised if he relies on players like Fredericks, Noble, Snodgrass and Wilshere which will lead to us being relegated. Noble has a big part ot play but off the bench with 20 mins to go. Fredericks just not good enough. Wilshere just nowhere near the level of the game anymore and Snodgrass has a role to play but off the bench as he really does not contribute alot from open play in a game. Moyes’s time has certainly arrived and I for one hope he performs but based on what I have seen I am not confident.

As someone who wanted Moyes to be kept on after he kept us up the first time I have been a bit disappointed – I agree with Hugh’s “short straw” verdict – I still can’t understand how – if Declan Rice was deemed to have committed a hand ball against Sheffield United – Glenn Murray was not blown up for handball in Brighton’s equalizer against us – which would mean that we would be on 29 points and Brighton on 27.

Also I wonder how Slaven Bilic is doing so well at WBA after his last season and a bit with us – would the signing of William Carvhallo have made teh difference? So is Moyes a one team wonder designed never to perform again after working wonders at Everton – I agree with Hugh that the next 9 games will go a long way to answering the question
