Moyes on Soucek return chance

|

David Moyes has revealed that Tomas Soucek faces a late fitness test ahead of this weekend’s encounter against Manchester United.

The Hammers’ midfielder has been recovering from COVID and has missed the encounters against both Norwich and Leeds.

However, he now faces a late fitness test ahead of this weekend’s game against United at Old Trafford.

Soucek, indeed, has been key to the Hammers throughout the campaign and has scored three goals in the league; he will be hopeful of featuring against the Red Devils this weekend.

Speaking to reporters ahead of this weekend’s clash, Moyes said, as per Football.London: “We have COVID like everybody else, injuries as well. Tomas is back from COVID but not sure how ready he is so we need to assess that. Hopefully, we are not too bad.”

The Irons have a remarkably poor record against United and have not actually beaten the club in the Premier League since 2019, beating the Red Devils 2-0 thanks to goals from Andriy Yarmolenko and Aaron Cresswell.

However, the Irons beat United in the League Cup earlier this season, winning 1-0 at Old Trafford, potentially boosting confidence of a victory this weekend.

Sounds like he might start on the bench if at all. So will Dec curtail charging forward? Lanzini cannot cover behind him, he has to be in front of him. Ronaldo will have a hayday if we don’t defend well in front of the back four.

Must play him in this key match- he can rest up again for Kidderminster and Watford at home but he’ll be needed again away at Leicester.
