Moyes pays tribute to Irons defensive star

|

Aaron Cresswell has been getting bigger and better reviews game by game…a man who is becoming a Hammers golden oldie with an England cap not far away perhaps.

Many of us believed perhaps a season back that maybe he was on his way out but his determination and composure has seen him develop a new lease of life in the back five role he’s been handed.

And the credit has to go to manager David Moyes who has also found of playing Arthur Masuaku in a role which to be fair many saw him far more fitted as a wide left midfieder.

Moyes himself is obviously delighted with the way things have worked out and having known Cress particularly well from his first spell at the club realised the best way to use him.

Speaking at his presser ahead of the Leeds United game he paid a big tribute to the Liverpool born full back saying: “He is a very good boy to work with. This is the second time I’ve been here with Cress and on both occasions he’s been really valuable.

More importantly, he’s calm, he’s consistent and he plays regularly which is important in modern football.

I think he’s found a role he’s comfortable with too, playing as a left centre-back, but he’s also more than capable of playing at left back, and that’s what he is really.

I think his assists this season have been important. I’m not sure how many he had last season, but I think he’s really stepped up with his deliveries and his involvement in the game this season. We want him to keep doing that.”
