West Ham’s quest for a new manager seems to be nearing a happy ending, with reports suggesting David Sullivan and Tim Steidten have finally found a candidate they both approve of – Paulo Fonseca.

The Hammers’ search for a potential replacement for David Moyes has been comprehensive, with over a dozen names reportedly considered. However, the recent drubbing at Crystal Palace appears to have accelerated the need for a change.

There were initial concerns about a potential disagreement between Sullivan and Steidten regarding the new manager. While Sullivan reportedly favoured Julen Lopetegui, Steidten was believed to be interested in Ruben Amorim or Fonseca.

Thankfully for West Ham fans, a positive development has emerged from France. Reports claim that both Sullivan and Steidten are now in agreement on Paulo Fonseca, who is on the verge of leading Lille into the Champions League.

Several factors make Fonseca a popular choice among West Ham supporters. His attacking philosophy aligns more closely with what fans desire, a stark contrast to Moyes’ more pragmatic approach. Additionally, Fonseca has a proven track record of promoting young talent, something many fans feel Moyes has neglected.

This is particularly relevant considering West Ham’s exciting crop of young players waiting for an opportunity. In contrast to Moyes, Fonseca heavily relies on young talent, with several key players in his Lille squad being under 25 years old.

News of Fonseca’s appointment is likely to be met with enthusiasm by West Ham fans. His focus on an attacking style and player development resonates with their longings. Fonseca himself emphasises the importance of an attractive playing style, stating, “For me, it’s never just about the result. It’s about the process. I want to create something that allows you to enjoy the game. And to do that, you need to have an attacking way of playing. You have to try to dominate and create more chances than the opposition.”

Fonseca Is ideal if it’s true be great, better than Lopetegui

He ticks all the boxes, especially the promotion of young players, and an attacking style of football will be a breath of fresh air after Moyes. Yes, please

News of his appointment have I missed something?.
When was the press conference with him holding up a west ham shirt?.why would he give up the champions league for the west ham circus?. So we have chosen him i wonder if he knows about that?
This nonsense has to stop.unless he has already agreed to it then comments an announcement needs to be made tonight about david moves then he can have a respectful send off against Luton.one thing that did please me about this item although nuts the emphasis on youth that’s why we are called the academy ofof football.oh for ron greenwood and John lyell.

David Steidten eh…. Could’ve swore his name is Tim… 🤣

  • Sissons64 says:

Why would he leave a club he’s taken to the champions league

  • Bonzo says:

If the goal is to bring through youth players then Fonseca the man but that won’t bring us any trophies, won’t bring us European football. Sorry but Fonseca isn’t a top level coach. I think I’d rather keep Moyes.

If he is the chosen one, bring him in soon. Once he is in place, he has a chance to try to focus early on the hiring of players, thus avoiding last minute transfers as in the past. This might facilitate adding a couple of good attackers, the ones Moyes did not deem a high priority.

Think it’s a good idea Moyes has done ok but fans pay to be entertained.

Let’s hope it gets signed and sealed asap but Sullivan is a man that always wants things his way and throws his dummy out of the pram when he doesn’t fingers crossed that it gets done but I won’t be surprised if there is a further twist in this situation moyes knows his time is almost up but don’t write him off till the appointment is confirmed Sullivan needs to get this done now not wait till the end of the season

  • Ricky jones says:

I don’t think we need a new manager David moyes has done a great job and should be allowed to continue to take the club forward ok we have had a few problems but what team doesn’t they don’t go round changing the manager it’s just one of those things I urge mr Sullivan to think again and give David moyes a long term contract to finish what he started instead of someone coming in and claiming all the credit for David moyes hard work

  • Steve Harding says:

Lets all have a little more respect for the job Moyles has done in his time with us winning a trophy and the wonderful European journeys. Agree its time for change as the football isn’t always good to watch. He is still our manager so we see this season out and respect Moyles for what he has done for our wonderful football club. Once his departure has been announced then we discuss potential new managers but until that time we get behind David and our club and do things in the correct way and order.

  • Jeff Adamson says:

    Moyes has done ok.
Problem is a season ago he said he wanted young hungry players.
He bought Ings, was looking at Ross Barkley and couple of other 30 something’s.
We,re losing 4-5 youngsters,1 to Tottenham or arsenal.
    Second oldest squad in premiership.
As guy said,Sullivan will give someone job the day before new season starts.
