Max Cornet – like several others in the Hammers squad – must wonder what’s going on in his life.
Once again he was sent on as late as possible by manager David Moyes when there was just one minute of normal time left.
Now excuse my cynicism but apart from giving him a match day appearance fee I can see no other point to such a decision.
Unbelievably, Moyes had decided that the totally ineffective Said Benrahma was a suitable replacement for Pablo Fornals at half time when the former Brentford player has produced nothing of note over the last few games.
Once again the Algerian looked entirely lost and a final kick of the game from him, high wide and not so handsome summed up what he is all about.
Cornet, meanwhile, has had no chance whatsoever to make an impression since returning from injury and you have to wonder why,
We seem to be stuck with the same squad of starting players week in and week out and it showed today that the team has barely been strengthened since last season despite a near £200 million spend.
In the summer the manager said the squad needed strengthening which is why he bought eight players.
Are we any stronger – no way – and that’s why some of us continue to worry in a big way.
Now let the Moyes supporters tell us all is well. MOYES OUT and quickly. Hodgson worked for Palace why not Pardew or Allardyce on a short term contract until we can find someone. Both could keep us up. Boring, but effective.
Honestly it feels like Moyes wants to be sacked, he’s goading the board to chuck him out with a big wad of settlement cash ! One minute you feel like you have turned a corner the next minute your back in the manure ! Moyes absolutely baffles me , i just don’t get him!
