Moyes tight lipped in final press conference

|

David Moyes held his final pre-macth press conference at 9.30am this morning but seemed in no mood to talk in a short zoom call with reporters.

There was no injury updates or team news and no indication of transfer dealings as the manager remained tight lipped.

The manager said  the club were relieved that the Hammers were safe adding It had been difficult and stressful time after lockdown.

He said the the pressure was on with nine games in six weeks and to get the job done before the last game was pleasing.

The Gaffer said that Michail Antonio was really important to West Ham. He has played great since football returned and matured a lot adding he is looking after himself better. The loss of Haller meant Moyes had to find another forward player in a difficult period but he has stepped up.

Asked about the transfer window the manager said “I think we’re a little unsure what the transfer window is going to be. I think everybody has had a little bit of a fright about football during the shutdown, but getting the season finished has helped and got us a bit closer to normal. I think the good thing about the transfer window is that it will go on to October so it gives the teams time. But we’re not sure what the normal is at the moment.”

Don’t like the sound of that press conference. Sounds as if he has been told he must sell Diangana and/or Rice. I sincerely hope not, but he was not very upbeat when asked about the transfer market. We need to sell Anderson, Ajeti, Roberto, Wilshire, Masuaku, Lanzini.
Not our young talented players that are going to get better and better and be worth a lot more money in 2 or 3 years time, than now in a depressed transfer market. If we did sell Diangana or Rice now they will go for 3 to 4 times the money in 3 or 4 years time. It just doesn’t make sense selling our top young players now.

Agree, doesn’t sound great but what do you expect from the current owners.

Or maybe he’s been told Pochettino is coming in to replace him!!!

Best not to read too much into it; what has he to say that hasn’t been said already. We’re safe, Soucek has signed, we haven’t got any money to spend without selling first. We know all of that already.

Relax, hammers fans, the future’s bright!

Why would we sell Rice or Diangana . Moyes has already said Rice is going nowhere and tipped to replace Nobes as captain also Diangana fits the profile of the type of player hes looking for young , hungry and has proved himself and deserves a chance plus it would save the club money to be used in other areas .
