Moyes to wipe slate clean with Chicharito

|
chicharito-david-moyes-west-hamDavid Moyes appears ready to wipe the slate clean with Javier Hernandez.
Chicharito had previously accused Moyes of “not taking me into account” during his time at Manchester United – before snubbing him in his leaving letter.
The striker extended his best wishes to Alex Ferguson, the man who bought him, but gave Moyes and Van Gaal the cold shoulder.“I want to thank Sir Alex Ferguson and Jim Lawlor, the club staff, all the players I played with,” Hernandez said in a statement when he left.

Moyes froze out Hernandez out when the pair were at Old Trafford in the 2013-14 season, before the Mexican was then sold by Louis van Gaal to Bayer Leverkusen.Chicharito’s frustrations were publicly addressed during the international break in March of 2014 when he joined the Mexico national team for a friendly against Nigeria.  He said “I am very eager to play as my club don’t take me much into account. I hope I have the opportunity to play,” he told the press before the game.

Moyes has already told reporters that all West Ham players start with a clean slate with him but has warned there will be no favours. Everyone must prove themselves in the eyes of the new manager in terms of fitness and ability.

Not a good start. I am no tactical wizard, but I would have thought Hernandez needs to work with another striker. Any of you know whether that has been the case when he has been scoring goals at other clubs? Just seems to me that he won’t score long range goals & obviously is not much cop at holding the ball up. I would like to see him with Sakho, although have a feeling Sakho has downed tools at West Ham. If he can get those two playing we will be ok. If….

‘Not a good start’ in what way 64?
Imho what Moyes has said is bang on, no one is safe & they all have to prove themselves to him. Lets hope he keeps to that as not one player has busted a bollok for the shirt this season. Is Slav to blame? Well playing players in their strongest roll will be a good start & getting the lazy ….. fit must also be up the top of the list of things to do.
He has played youth at his previous clubs & hopefully he does that here or we are going to lose so many hot prospects. Both SA & Slav have over looked them & kept sending them out on loan

Essex – yes I agree wih the ‘nobody safe’ & like ‘if they don’t run they don’t play’ (although that could leave us a bit short based on recent games lol). I just meant I could have done without the reminder that Hernandez may be carrying a bit of a grudge. But I guess it is up to Moyes to sort that out.

Sakho is a highly gifted waste of space. He should be turfed out at Christmas and Ayew played alongside Chicarito.

  • Lazurus. rises like a salmon says:

Moyes will soon see that sakho is the best striker in the club for his all round abilities , everyone on a clean sheet and same opportunity’s Moyes says ? So its up to sakho now , his problem was bilic and the Sullivan bull💩 about signing a top striker and started the bad feeling ! Funny how Sullivan and his gob cause problems continually !! Rich but not in intelligence lol. I hope sakho stays but having signed a new improved contract in sept/Oct ish
By all accounts , maybe that was to bump up his sell on price ? Hope not 😉

I for 1 want Sakho to stay and I think Sullivan and Billic used Sakho as a scapegoat for their failures because Sakho was injured for a long period. Am not surprised with Sakho’s attitude towards Billic and Sullivan after the contribution he made prior to his injury. If Moyes is true to his word then there is no place for Noble unless his form dramatically improves. Can’t see Moyes accepting too many side and backwards football slowing down play. Noble needs to learn how to link up play instead of relying on long range passing. Will be interesting to see how Moyes develops the team.

Hopefully Moyes can win all the players over, it certainly going to be different from the cosy father figure Slav who was a soft touch, so possibly there will be a clear out at some point. Hernandez will score goals as long as you put the ball through to him or give it to him so that he can turn on it into space, what he has been starved of is quality balls like that because we have been poor in posession in the midfield, he might get onto the occaisional cross but he wants the ball through the middle, the other way is to build up a big lead so we can use his pace on the counter attack.Main thing is that we have provide the platform, Sakho in my opinion would be more use than Carroll to bring out the best in Hernandez, Carroll takes most of one half just to make it from our half to the opponents 18 yard box and he flicks the ball on but not so often to players in our team.

I agree that Chicharito plays best with a closely placed twin striker..
If Moyes can get Sakho motivated, he would be my pick, well ahead of AC in the pecking order.
Martinez has the chance to link with Chicharito or Sakho, but I’m very uncertain about using AC?!!

  • Hammer64 says:

I still think age & injuries have caught up with AC this season. On his occasional appearances over the last 5 years he has scored & made goals. Even when he was not doing that he unsettled all but the best defences & usually lifted the team. Now..not so much imo. It may be that the general lack of confidence has dragged him down but I have a feeling he is going to be mainly a sub. When fit!

  • jonnyem1 says:

Hope that he does because Chico is potentially the best striker we’ve had in a very long time. Would hate to see him leave in Jan due to a poor relationship with Moyes.

  • kevin says:

Everyone gets a clean slate ; so as Fans we should afford the players the same latitude .
