Moyes tries to avoid a Sam Allardyce stat

David Moyes tries to avoid a Sam Allardyce stat at Spurs tonight. If West Ham lose Moyes will have failed 15 times against Spurs as a manager, equalling Sam Allardyce’s record .

Since their win  at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in April 2019, the Irons have faced three defeats in four league visits to Spurs.

In midweek Premier League home games (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday), Tottenham has managed to win only three of their last nine matches, a stark contrast to their impressive record of 14 wins in 15 such games before this period.

Last season, West Ham struggled in midweek Premier League games, failing to secure a win in all six matches and losing the last three in succession.

Son Heung-min of Spurs seems to like playing against West Ham, being involved in eight goals across eight Premier League home games, consistently scoring in his last three appearances at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

West Ham‘s Jarrod Bowen has notably excelled in away games this season, netting six goals in as many Premier League away matches. This contrasts with his previous record of four goals in 69 away games. Trevor Morley and Paulo Wanchope are the only West Ham players to score more away goals in a single Premier League campaign.

Tottenham experienced a 4-1 defeat against Chelsea in their recent Premier League home London derby, marking the first instance of consecutive home league losses to fellow London sides since November 2004.

According to predictions from the Opta supercomputer, Tottenham is expected to win this match against West Ham, with a 51.4% success rate based on pre-match simulations.

Ange Postecoglou, the manager, has not experienced three successive home game losses with a top-flight club since August 2018 during his tenure with Japanese side Yokohama F. Marinos.
