Moyes wants to do it for Dad!

|

David Moyes insists that West Ham need to give his dad a night to remember, as he will be watching on from the stands when the Hammers play Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday!

The Hammers are 90 minutes away from a European final, although they will need to win on the night to have any chance of reaching the showpiece.

The Irons lost the first leg 2-1, of course, and are aiming to overturn that deficit in Germany this evening.

And Moyes has confirmed that his father will be present at the game, despite being 86 years of age!

Speaking ahead of the game, which could well be the biggest in the Irons’ history, as per the Newham Recorder, he said: “I hope my lad still takes me to football at 86-years-old!

“Hopefully, we’ll be able to give my dad and brother a night to remember.

“It’s a big game for me and to get to a semi-final in any European competition is huge but I still want to go further and take this team all the way to the final.

“We’ve got a bit to do but we’ve been doing things in the build-up to make the players ready and positive for this return and, while people talk about our resilience and character, we’ll need to show both of those attributes and even more.”

The Irons will play either Rangers or RB Leipzig in the final if they get there, with that tie also being finely poised ahead of he second leg at Ibrox; Leipzig won the first leg 1-0 in Germany.
