Moyes ‘worried’ about Hammer

|

David Moyes admits that he is worried about the form of Mikey Antonio after Sunday’s hugely disappointing 3-1 defeat to Spurs.

The Hammers were beaten at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in a game that was billed as something of a must-win in the race to finish in the top four.

Spurs were 2-0 up within 25 minutes thanks to a Kurt Zouma own goal and a deflected strike from Son Heung-Min.

Mikey drew another blank, with Said Benrahma the Iron on the scoresheet, and he was withdrawn around the hour mark, having shanked two big chances, as Andriy Yarmolenko replaced him.

Mikey has now gone 10 league games without a goal and Moyes has admitted that he is concerned about his lack of goals in recent weeks, with the Hammers now six points off fourth-placed Arsenal, although the Gunners have two games in hand.

Speaking after the defeat, as per Football.London, the Hammers boss said: “Two chances yeah. I do not know if he is struggling with confidence. Mich is a good guy and he does not come over that way [as a confidence player] but if you are a No.9 at any football club you want to score goals and that will fill your confidence.

“He had two good opportunities and somebody told me Spurs had four shot on target and we had one, and Tottenham scored three and we scored one.”
