Moyes’ Zouma update

|

David Moyes has confirmed that Kurt Zouma should be available to play against Newcastle on Saturday.

The Frenchman pulled out of the game against Leicester due to illness and was replaced by Issa Diop as the two sides played out a 2-2 draw.

Zouma has been back in training, though, and is now scheduled to return against Newcastle, with Moyes confirming that he hopes to have him available for selection.

Speaking to reporters ahead of this weekend’s clash with the Magpies, he said, as per Football.London: “He is better, it took him a couple of days to get over but he has trained so I am hoping he is available.

“We want him to concentrate on his training. We’re hoping that we can keep him at those levels of performances. Hopefully he can focus on his football and we’ll give him as much support as we can before we get him ready back to his best.”

Moyes has also remained schtum on the potential of there being players missing through injury in the early kick-off this weekend.

He has confirmed that there are a few issues but he has refused to name names.

He added: “We have one or two doubts and question marks over some players but I will not give that away.”

A win over Newcastle is essential this weekend if the club are to remain in the battle for the top four, as they are heading into this round of fixtures in fifth place.
