Moyesie: We can worry them

|

David Moyes insists the Hammers can hurt Liverpool when the two sides meet on Saturday afternoon, provided the Irons actually have the ball!

The Irons go to Anfield looking for their first win on Merseyside since 2015, when goals from Manuel Lanzini, Mark Noble, and Diafra Sakho gave the Hammers a thumping 3-0 win.

That’s a stretch of seven years without a victory at Anfield but Moyesie believes that the Hammers have the talent required to hurt the title-chasers, who haven’t lost in 2022.

Indeed, he believes that Liverpool allow their opposition space to exploit on the counter-attack, and is hoping the Irons can take advantage, having beaten them 3-2 at the London Stadium.

He told reporters: “I think if we get the ball in the right positions we can worry them, but that’s if we can get the ball. Liverpool are very good at pressing so it makes it very difficult for you to make things easy or set things up.

“They have a lot of risk in their game but they have huge reward because they are so good at it. But when you play like that there will be areas of the field where they give you a chance to exploit it and we have to think can we exploit their weaknesses? Let’s be fair, there aren’t many.
