Moysie makes the promise we all needed to hear

|

David Moyes has uttered perhaps the most important words heard at West Ham over recent years.

Moysie has clearly been following the club very closely for a long time and is deeply aware of the problems that need sorting among the fans.

And his promise not to over promise as he believes they have been in the past is the primary objective of his purposes for the club.

Much has been made among the unhappy fans of the promises 0ver the London Stadium and reaching the new level and there is nothing to be done about that now but it’s great to hear the manager going in a direction  which may lift the complaints off the back of the club.

That may not be the case among the hard bitten critics but it’s very good to hear the manager making his points without any fear that he believes he might be saying the wrong thing.

“I still want to make sure I don’t over-promise the West Ham supporters because I think they’ve been over-promised,” Moyes told FourFourTwo.

“I want to be as straight as I can, I think we’ve got a really good team in the making at the moment. We’ve brought in some really good, exciting players and hopefully in the next couple of transfer windows we can add to that.

“I can’t build it and get it that good right away but I believe I can build it and get it good given a period of time. That’s not me as a manager asking for more time, that’s me being realistic.

“You can’t turn perceptions around of West Ham in one transfer window or two transfer windows.

“This is a massive oil tanker we’re turning around, or I hope we are, and we want to get it turned around and facing the right direction with everybody aboard.”

There’s a danger Moyesie’s gonna be our best manager since Lyall, GSB willing!

Although I can understand some fans being disgruntled with moving from Upton Park to the Big O, as people don’t like change. But blaming everything on GSB is IMHO unwarranted.
Look at Bayern Munich, they took over the Olympiastadion in the 70’s and it didn’t stop Bayern being successful. Whatever blueprint they had/have meant success. I think Moyes needs to get hold of that.

It’s time for the fans to get realistic . Problem is that us fans have been waiting for 60yrs for the club to get into gear . We have seen great players leave west ham for pastures new and greener far too often . Give Moyes his chance and back him . But , having said that , there are players that are disloyal to their clubs . And we have had more than our fair share at West Ham . Money has always been the problem but loyalty is priceless . When it comes down to wages instead of loyalty it makes me sick to the stomach . Good players with talent should stay at west ham to help them grow and reap the benefits eventually . If players remain loyal there is no reason why west ham shouldn’t finish this season in the top six .

Whether it is pure luck or fate or even both, we finally have a manager who is capable of bringing professionalism, success and creating a legacy at this club.
I totally agree ljd1980… Moysie has the making of the Best manager to manage this club since the late Great Johnny Lyall. When you are operating on the type of budget that we are, it is all about the fine margins and this is an area where Moyes has ALWAYS been very good (Canny) at operating within.
His assembled coaching staff/team are top-notch, and Moyes has also got rid of a few sour faces and been honest with the rest of his squad from the word go, therefore creating an environment where the players are prepared to run through brick walls for him.
As ljd1980 said…..hopefully, our board WON’T fumble this situation for a second time and work with Moyes to put us back where we belong… COYI
