West Ham’s relationship with leading representative agency Unique Sports Management may again come into play this summer.
The club already has five players associated with that stable at the club – a fifth if you count Said Benrahma – who was part represented by them when joining us.
Currently, Mickey Antonio, Craig Dawson, Aaron Cresswell, Ryan Fredericks and Darren Randolph are all represented by the agency and interestingly there’s a midfielder involved with them who interested David Moyes on his last spell at the club.
Newly relegated Tom Cairney at Fulham was regularly watched by the manager but eventually opted to sign a new deal with the Cottagers.
However, at 30, the Scottish international – valued now at around £10 million – could become an option for his fellow countryman Moysie should we fail to sign Jesse Lingard from Manchester United.
Although he has a contract until 2024 Cairney is believed to be unhappy at the prospect of another Championship season and could become a target for the manager.
He managed only 111 games last season before being sidelined with a knee injury but is understood to have recovered – a situation that will of course be thoroughly checked out before any move is made.
A Hammers source told us: “It’s very early days in the market but there was certainly interest from the manager last time so it would be no surprise.”
Interestingly, West Brom keeper Sam Johnstone – regularly linked with us recently – is another client of the agency so maybe there’s a bit more in that than first thought!
🤣
30 year old midfielder who couldn’t get into a relegated side? Why on earth would we be interested?
He had an injury but has recovered
Even worse. Injury worries too.
Alarming that this is considered moderate on the rumour scale .
Instead of lingeard…this is a joke surely 🤣🤣🤣👍
Incase we don’t get lingard? Completelty different players on completely different levels Worrying you rate this rumours as moderate!! He might have been injured this season but he never cut it the first time round with Fulham in prem, steer clear at 10 million. Maybe he would be good to bulk up the squad a bit for a few million.
Agreed Alex, never been a ten million pound player even at his peak in the Championship three/four seasons ago.
Anybody know his appearance record over the past few seasons?
If we are suggesting Yarma can be moved on for £5-8 million then this no mark, injury prone centre midfielder can only be valued lower in my opinion.
111 games last season doesn’t sound too bad. Might be a bit worn out now – needs a break. COYI
