Moysie sends warning to the squad

|

David Moyes is extremely aware of the new protocols introduced as the covid situation continues to cause huge worries across the nation.

He has become aware of the increasing contact that’s been going on between players as they celebrate and insists that the squad will be doing everything in its power to remain as calm as we would all expect.

Whilst we have football to watch the virus has created a real problem for players who instinctively celebrate goals and moments of triumph. It’s extremely hard not to.

But the manager knows that there could be major effects if things don’t calm down and has sent a message to players and fans on his expectations this afternoon and going forward this season.

With the Premier League and no doubt the government watching closely they will be happy to hear his words but no doubt much happier when they see the squad responding.

Commenting at https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2021/january/15-january/david-moyes-covid-19-protocols-staying-unbeaten-burnley-tomas  he said:  ” We’ll also do everything we possibly can on the pitch to adhere to those new protocols.

But it is something we all play football for at any level – to score a goal and celebrate – and anybody who has played the game will have done that.

But we shouldn’t do that if it is affecting any people and making them do the same. I’d hope people weren’t thinking that way and it means they could hug each because the players hug each other after scoring a goal.

The first thing to do is to try to make sure it doesn’t happen on the pitch if we can. Sometimes these things happen, but we are not encouraging them to do it, that’s for sure.

We hope we score lots of goals at West Ham, but we will have to make sure we celebrate them correctly.

Obviously Antonio and the other 3 have forgotten to remember Moyes request when we went 1-0 up against Burnley 😆😆
