Mubama’s 89th minute nonsense

David Moyes was guilty of involving in token-ism last night because otherwise why was Mubama ignored until the 89th minute. Such nonsense.  As explained by Hammers News the teenager’s arrival drew one of the biggest cheers of the night in a very lack lustre atmosphere. But Moyes decided a minute from the end of normal time this was the moment to give the kid  his chance. As we know the fella is currently refusing to sign a new deal and one can barely imagine this will have helped him to change his mind!

Mubama’s 89th minute nonsense

Claret and Hugh admin David Pope declared in his latest post: “And Mubama on in the 89th min…” Little more needs to be said. At a time when the Greeks had turned up the pressure and were attacking with a vengeance, the Hammers manager brings on a striker – why? Just to keep the fans happy but one minute plus extra time is hardly going to have them smiling – quite the opposite.

Dave adds in his post: Something was amiss. We put out a strong team. David Moyes had been expressing his opinion that Olympiacos are a good team and that we are in the toughest group. I do hope such comments didn’t make the players  wary coupled with recent defeats and led them to play such a pedestrian game at times. Bewildering. We should have dominated with speed and aggression..it was all a bit limp at times.
