Nasri update

|

Samir Nasri has again been ruled out of action for the weekend game against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

It ,means that a calf injury sustained in the game against Cardiff City will have been responsiible for keeping him on the sidelines  since – apart from a second half excursion in the game against Huddersfield.

The Frenchman has appeared just six times since he signed a deal until the end of the season as an out of contract player in January following a drugs-related incident.

Manuel Pellegrini told the pre-match presser ahead of the trip to Manchester United that both Carlos Sanchez and Amndriy Yarmolenko could be rejoining the  squad within a couple of weeks.

He explained: ““Long injuries are still out, Yarmolenko & Sanchez could be back in a couple of weeks to work with the squad. Carroll has had surgery, Nasri has a calf injury. All the other players are OK.”

ClaretandHugh says: “The ongoing injury issue with Nasri must be causing some serious head scratching in the Hammers camp as he is considered for a new one year deal at the end of the term as agreed between him and the board is considered. He remains a player of great influence in his best form but just six appearances in three and half months will raise concerns that the risk of injury is too worrying to commit to a further 12 months. However, the flip side is that the manager is a huge admirer and will be as keen as it gets for the player to remain at the club. A recent CandH poll also indicated that the Irons fans share the Pellegrini view, fans voted overwhelmingly for the midfielder to stay at the club for those 12 months. However, with a pre-season to come there is no need for any immediate decisions and that is where his future will no doubt be decided.
