New London Stadium family section to be created

|

West Ham have confirmed there will be an enhanced dedicated family area in London Stadium before the end of the season, in block 221 close to the away fans.

The club says the operational requirements around this are still under consideration, and supporters who are eligible to sit in this area will be contacted very shortly. Adults will not be allowed to sit in this block without children and will be offered the opportunity to move should they attend games without juniors.

Members of the OSB ticketing sub-group were told on Wednesday night that the proposal had been discussed with the Newham led Safety Advisory Group earlier in the week.

Previously the club had suggested the whole of the upper tier at the London Stadium was a family section with over 10,000 under 16’s season tickets in circulation.

The new family section is expected to stewarded differently than other sections with less torrerance for bad language or behaviour that upset families with young children.

West Ham used to have a family section at the Boleyn Ground in the Sir Trevor Brooking upper.

Next to the away fans?! Surely it would be better to use a section of either the East or West stands? I’m in 215 and I see first hand the language and behaviour on either side of the away fans and I would say it’s far from kid-friendly. Fun yes, kid-friendly. Definitely not! I’ve also seen it get a bit tasty between both sets of fans at times and whilst it’s never kicked off I still don’t think it’s the best area for a kid zone.

A family section is a good idea. But I don’t think it’s wise placing it near or next to the Away supporters.
The banter that goes back & forth is not conducive to a family experience. I would have thought the opposite end of the ground would be far more family friendly.

Sorry next to the away supporters who are standing up drunk and swearing for most of the time. Am I dreaming what planet does the decision makers come from. I for one would not take my Grandson there.
