No £400m bid to reject say sources

|

Reports that David Sullivan turned down a £400m bid for West Ham are untrue!

The Daily Mail claimed a group of investors based in the UK have made a takeover bid for West Ham worth more than £400million.

Adding that sources claim the proposal would arm manager David Moyes with significant transfer funds and transform the London Stadium and surrounding area.

They falsy claim the consortium— which includes former QPR chief executive Philip Beard — saw their offer rejected by Hammers majority shareholder David Sullivan.

Claret and Hugh understand from sources close to the club this evening that while the consortium in question approached West Ham earlier this year they never produced any proof of funds to make a formal bid to reject. It is thought the consortium is more interested in the property side of a deal and had little interest in the football side. They were looking to raise funds to do a deal but failed to demonstrate they had the backing to make a bid.

At no time did they mention any money being available for new players in their preliminary talks with the owners.

The enquiry dates back to February this year from this group but is one of many unsolicited approaches received by the club that comes to nothing.

Anyone that was associated to the takeover of QPR should be avoided at all costs.

Previously an informal £650m bid was rejected (reportedly), so this one is another nonsense.

Before our move to the London Stadium and whilst the talks were still ongoing, there was building support amongst supporters for new owners. I remember Sully making it clear at the time that IF for the good of the club a Billionaire rocked up and had the clubs best interests at heart…they would be open to selling.
So it is of little surprise, that a consortium bid was recently dismissed by the owners. On a personal note, I don’t like to hear the word consortium as it never fills me with excitement and joy. Sully probably still remembers the crook that they sold Birmingham City to.
It may be hard for many supporters, but common sense tells me that IF a potential buyer had the clubs best interests at heart, the current valuation of the club, would be of little consequence as they would need to have major plans to financially back the club from this point onwards… I mean who would want the new owners to be just as bad or worse than our current owners?
