No talks to cancel Wilshere contract

|

Reports that Jack Wilshere will cancel his contract by mutual agreement have been denied by club insiders.

It was suggested that talks had started to buy the 28-year-old out of his remaining 15 months of his contract but this is not the case.

Wilshere has made 16 appearances for the Hammers in two seasons after joining on a free transfer after leaving Arsenal.

His current groin injury has kept him out since 23rd October for a total of 132 days and 21 West Ham games and he had yet another operation in late January. Before that, he was out for 127 days between December 2018 and April 2019 missing 2o West Ham games after undergoing ankle surgery.

Wilshere was signed by Manuel Pellegrini in July 2018 on a three-year contract said to be worth £100,000 per week,.

He first became injured in September 2018 missing 77 days and 11 West Hames games with an ankle injury only returning in November 2018 for a short spell before getting injured again.

He was giving Ramsey a run for his money at Arsenal before they left. Has been shooting blanks for us but if we pay him we should play him.

I have my doubts as to wheather we can actually Find a place for Wilshere . You certainly can’t rely on his consistent availability or match fitness . Not doubting his ability , that’s for all to see when he is in shape . Hard one to call .

I don’t rate the guy, never have even when he played for arsenal.Even if he was fit i could only see him as a sub at best.
The club knew he was a “sick note” yet they gave him a three year contract at 100k a week.

  • Hammerpete says:

There perhaps should be a negotiated pay off with the proviso that if fit he can’t play for anyone else if we are effectively paying him. He has been a huge disappointment to us and the evidence is that his body is not up to regular pro football sadly. We need his spot in the squad for a player not a number.

Yet another talented player that is injury prone on big wages .
Why do we continue to take these risks?
Over the years we have had more sick notes than the job centre….
