Noble: “It’s going to be a relegation battle until the end”

|

Mark Noble has congratulated the Hammers fans for their terriific support during the game against Southampton at the weekend.

The Hammers recorded one of their best results of the season when it was needed most and the captain reckons the fans more than played their part.

The London Stadium was rocking as the Irons took the lead before being hauled back and then recording a great win and double over the south coast side.

Speaking after the match, Noble praised the supporters for their excellent backing on the afternoon, acknowledging the impact it made on matters on the pitch.

Things may have gone a bit quiet after the Saints equaliser but goals from Haller and Antonio got the crowd roaring again in the seind half as the team completed a priceless win.

And Noble was keen to thank the fans who have suffered badly during the previous run of awful results for the club.

Speaking at https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2020/march/02-march/mark-noble-fans-were-right-behind-us the skipper said: “You can normally tell before the game what the fans are going to be like when they sing Bubbles, and [today] it was really loud,” he recalled.

“They were right behind us and I thought they were great. They helped us out and we got the three points.”

“We let ourselves down here against Brighton being 3-1 up. Obviously, you could tell the game was a little bit anxious at times, because of the results we’ve had.

“I think our performance against Liverpool in the week gave us a platform to go on and win today. After three tough games last week, and another couple this week, it’s been tough, but it was a good win.

“At this stage in the season, performances really don’t matter, it’s results. I’ve said in the past we’ve had way too many mistakes this year that’ve cost us. Today [Saturday], we hardly made one, and that’s when you go and get results like that.”

He added: “I’m hoping now, after the result, that we can start moving in the right direction.

“We’ve still got a lot of tough games coming up and it’s still going to be a relegation battle until the end, but I do hope that we’ve got enough in the changing room.

“I believe in the players we’ve got in there. I think you can see that, and hopefully we can get ourselves out of it.”

A battle that is winnable but not with Noble in the team . Bowen did more in 80 mins than Noble has contributed in 25 games . We will not win big matches carrying a passenger . Again he contributed nothing constructive . Giving the ball away and watching as the opposition ran past . Make Rice or Ogbonna captain to lead from the front instead of Noble panting along in peoples shadows .
